Plan Your Visit

Welcome! We'd love to have you as our guest at Rio Grande Bible Baptist Church.

We know visiting a church for the first time can feel a little overwhelming. Our hope is that you feel right at home. We invite you to tell us a little more about you and your needs. This form of course is optional but will help us prepare to make your visit special.

If you can let us know at least 48 hours in advance, that would be great! If not, please join us anyway and we'll look forward to answering your questions in person.

What About Heaven?

What is our Condition?

In order to know for sure we are going to heaven, we must first admit that we are sinners. Romans 3:23- “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Sin is anything we do that violates God’s commandments or laws. Every person born on earth since Adam and Eve has sinned. Romans 5:12- “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

If we violate institutional laws on earth, there is a punishment; likewise, the punishment for violating God’s law is spiritual death and eternal separation from Him. Romans 6:23- “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” I am thankful that the story does not end there. God gave us a precious gift!

What can I do?

We must realize that we can do nothing. Romans 3:10 – “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:” Many people believe that they are generally good. Isaiah 64:6 – “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags…” All the good things that we do can never meet God’s perfect standard; however, God loved us so much that He provided a way that we can have a relationship with Him, and go to heaven one day.

John 3:16- “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

God sent his Son Jesus to pay the penalty for our sins. We cannot go to heaven on our own; this fact is why Jesus was sent. Acts 4:12- “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

What is the solution?

The solution is simple. We must believe on Jesus Christ to save us. We must realize that our religion will not save us, our good works will not save us, or our baptism will not save us. Only Jesus Christ will save us!

We must admit our sinful condition, believe on Jesus Christ, and God promises that He will save us. Romans 10:13- “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” This verse does not say might or maybe; it says SHALL be.

On Christmas, most people receive a gift. How do they receive the gift? They reach out and take it. In order to have a relationship with Jesus and know for certain that you are going to heaven, you must reach out and take God’s gift. Romans 6:23- “…the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” If you believe, cry out to God, sincerely and He will save you.
